We’re just now getting ready to enter 2025, but Ascendance of a Bookworm fans are no doubt already looking ahead to 2026. According to an announcement from Japanese publisher TO BOOKS, that’s when the next season of the anime adaptation is set to premiere.
Fans will also get to see the news on the wraparound obi of the third short story collection for the series when it hits shelves in Japan on December 10. According to that upcoming announcement, pictured below, the series has printed over 11 million copies to date.
The new anime was first revealed in December 2023, moving studios from Ajiado to WIT Studio to adapt Part 3: Adopted Daughter of an Archduke.
The light novel series, which is known as Honzuki no Gekokujō – Shisho ni Naru Tame niwa Shudan o Erandeiramasen in Japanese, launched in 2013. In addition to the previous anime adaptation, the series has received a manga. The first season of anime debuted in late 2019, with the second season coming out less than a year later in spring 2020. The third season came out a little later, launching in 2022. There are additionally two OVA installments.
