an archdemon's dilemma

After being lined up for April 2024 earlier this year, a specific release date is now in place for the An Archdemon’s Dilemma — How to Love Your Elf Bride anime. The series is set to kick off on April 4 at 24:30 Japan Time (April 5 at 00:30), with Crunchyroll to stream shortly after it airs. Ahead of that, you can see more of the adaptation, including a sample of Sayaka Yamamoto’s “Blue Star” ending theme, in the second main trailer below.

The anime is being made at Brains Base, with Hiroshi Ishiodori of RIN-NE 3 and Kiss Him, Not Me helming the project as director. The person overseeing the series scripts is Aya Yoshinaga, who is known for working on Crest of the Stars. The person tasked with character design is Mina Ōsawa, whose previous credits include Given and The Strongest Sage With the Weakest Crest. The soundtrack is being composed by Yuma Yamaguchi of Metallic Rouge and Undead Murder Farce. The animation is being supervised by Keiji Gotoh, who is known for working on In/Spectre and Kiddy Grade.

J-Novel Club publishes the original light novels by Fuminori Teshima. Crunchyroll plans to stream the anime as it airs and describes the story like so:

Zagan might be the most feared evil sorcerer, but when it comes to social interactions, he’s the most inept. All those days studying the dark arts won’t help him when he falls in love at first sight with Nephelia, the beautiful elven slave, and spends his entire fortune to purchase her. With no clue how to talk to each other, the awkward arrangement for a bumbling sorcerer and timid elf begins.
