Super Smash Bros. Adds Cloud from Final Fantasy VII

Exciting announcements are usually expected to drop during Nintendo Direct presentations, and Nintendo did not disappoint with their first since the untimely passing of president and CEO Satoru Iwata. Even though there’s a Super Smash Bros. briefing set for December, Nintendo couldn’t wait to reveal a surprising new addition to the roster: Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII.

We’re not sure when to expect Cloud or his accompanying Midgar stage, but a trailer debuted during the stream, showing everything from summons to Limit Breaks. Cloud will also have an alternate costume based on his look from the Advent Children movie, and you can see him in action below.
