GalaxyCon Launches Charitable Auction for Mike McFarland After His Brain Surgery

Anime actor and director Mike McFarland had successful emergency brain surgery earlier this month, and both friends and fans are stepping up to help. First voice actors J. Michael Tatum and Brandon McInnis set up a GoFundMe page, and now GalaxyCon is launching a charity auction.

Mike Broder, founder and president of GalaxyCon, remarked, “I truly hope we can unite as a community to help support someone who has given so much to the world of anime and beyond. Together, let’s show Mike just how much he means to us all!”

Any money earned will be used for a live-in medical assistant to help McFarland during his recovery.

The auction can be found here, on GalaxyCon’s eBay store. It’s pretty much an otaku’s dream, because it’s page after page offering up many Funko Pops and posters signed by voice actors. (Case in point: see above image.) Items include a Master Roshi Funko Pop signed by McFarland, a glow-in-the-dark Deku Funko Pop signed by Justin Briner, multiple Yor Forger images signed by Natalie van Sistine, and many more. Because McFarland plays Master Roshi and because he directed Attack on Titan and stars as Jean in it, there is a lot of stuff for Dragon Ball Z and Attack on Titan.

Some of the items have hours left, and some of them have days left.

GalaxyCon gave this description for itself:

GalaxyCon LLC, is the largest independently owned consumer and fan engagement company. Based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and founded by Mike Broder in 2006, GalaxyCon is made for fans, by fans. The company organizes pop culture, anime, and horror-themed events across the United States. Celebrities and fans are united at the festival of fandom in often overlooked locations. Events in Oklahoma City, Raleigh, Columbus, Richmond, and San José attract between 20,000 and 50,000 fans for each show. Additionally, GalaxyCon presents Animate! and Nightmare Weekend throughout the year, reaching more consumers and fans.
