ChaO, New Film from Studio 4°C, Revealed

ChaO, New Film from Studio 4°C, RevealedStudio 4°C, the folks behind some of the most inventive anime films out there, are back with a new feature. It’s called ChaO, and apparently the studio has been quietly working on it for seven years!

Studio 4°C describes the film like this:

A future society where humans and mermaids coexist. Stephen, an office worker, is suddenly asked to marry by Chao, a princess of the mermaid kingdom! A 100% pure love story!

Here’s who’s making it:

Director: Yasuhiro Aoki (Tweeny Witches, Batman Gotham Knight)
Character designer, chief animation director: Hirokazu Kojima (Shoka)
Art director: Hiroshi Takiguchi (Weathering With You)

4°C producer Eiko Tanaka says the film has over 100,000 drawings. It’s set to hit theaters this summer and is distributed by Toei.

Other films produced by Studio 4°C include Memories, Berserk, Children of the Sea and Poupelle of Chimney Town.
