It’s been almost 30 years since Lupin III got its own full-length standalone 2D anime film, and that drought is about to end with a new feature directed by Takeshi Koike. The director behind Lupin outings The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, Jigen’s Gravestone, Goemon’s Blood Spray and Fujiko Mine’s Lie is back at the helm for what is currently titled LUPIN THE IIIRD THE MOVIE and is set to open in Japan in 2025.
Joining Koike are Yuya Takahashi on the screenplay, James Shimoji on music and Katsuhito Ishii as creative adviser. All three also previously worked on Jigen’s Gravestone, Goemon’s Blood Spray and Fujiko Mine’s Lie. TMS Entertainment is handling animation production, and you can see an English-subtitled teaser below.
