Earlier this year, we learned that Natsume’s Book of Friends season 7 is set to premiere in Japan this fall. Now that date has been narrowed down further, and fans of the series—which adapts the Natsume Yujin-cho manga by Yuki Midorikawa—will get to dig into the new season starting on October 7, 2024.
The opening song will be Hinata Kashiwagi with “Alca” and the ending song will be Toshiki Kondo with “Komariwarai.” You can sample both in the new trailer below.

There’s also a new key visual:
Natsume’s Book of Friends season 7 has Takahiro Omori returning as chief director, with Hideki Ito returning from the anime films as the new season’s director. Other returning staff members include Sadayuki Murai overseeing scripts, Akira Takata designing characters and Makoto Yoshimori composing music for the Shuka production.
The anime—which aired from 2008 to 2017 for a total of six seasons, followed by films in 2018 and 2021—is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll, which describes the series like so:
Natsume’s Book of Friends Plot
Natsume Takashi has the ability to see spirits, which he has long kept secret. However, once he inherits a strange book that belonged to his deceased grandmother, Reiko, he discovers the reason why spirits surround him.
