The influential anime movie Ninja Scroll came out in 1993, and in honor of its 30th anniversary, it’s coming to American theaters for a limited run!
Iconic Events Releasing and AMC Networks’ HIDIVE are working together to make this happen, as Ninja Scroll is one of the titles being screened for AX Cinema Nights. It will be available in more than 500 U.S. movie theaters, but it’s only on the big screen for three days: September 11, 12 and 15. Fans have the option of watching it either subbed or dubbed. Tickets aren’t on sale yet, but if you go to this site and share your email, you’ll be notified when tickets become available for preorder. The exact theaters taking part in this event will also be revealed at a later date.
Yoshiaki Kawajiri wrote and directed Ninja Scroll, and is also credited with Original Work and Character Design. Its music was composed by Kaoru Wada, and it was produced by Shigeru Kitayama, Masako Fukuyo, and Kazuhiko Ikeguchi. Hiromasa Ogura handled art direction, and Yutaka Minowa was in charge of animation direction. Harutoshi Ogata and Yukiko Itō both worked as editors on it. Hitoshi Yamaguchi was tasked with being the Director of Photography. Yutaka Minowa also worked on character design.
The film runs at 94 minutes.

When Jubei saves a young ninja woman from the unthinkable, he assumes that’s the end of it. To his surprise, it’s only just the beginning. Together, the two investigate the mysterious deaths of an entire village which uncovers a conspiracy of demonic proportions! Getting closer to the truth, the demonic forces will stop at nothing to silence Jubei and his companion for good!
