Fans around the world were hit with shocking news tonight, as the official Dragon Ball social media accounts announced that creator and overall legendary manga author Akira Toriyama has passed away.

Toriyama was 68 years old, and according to the announcement he passed due to acute subdural hematoma.

There’s no denying how influential Akira Toriyama was to media at large, from manga like Dr. Slump and Dragon Ball to his inimitable designs for video games like Chrono Trigger and the Dragon Quest series.
