Last month saw the My Hero Academia series prepping plans for a fourth anime film, and now a new original episode has been announced. The folks behind the anime adaptation of Kohei Horikoshi’s hit Shonen Jump manga series revealed the UA HEROES BATTLE episode, which will be showcased during an exclusive early screening of the English dub during New York Comic Con 2023.
The showing at NYCC will mark the world premiere for the episode, giving attendees a chance to check it out before fans in Japan. The new episode depicts everyone’s favorite heroes-in-training as they dive into some card game action, as teased in the key visual below.
After that, the episode will stream on Crunchyroll at a later date in the following territories: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Channel Islands, Malta, Gibraltar, Isle of Man, Australia, New Zealand, Central and South America, Scandinavia, Europe, Middle East, Africa, French Southern and Antarctic Islands and Ocean Pacific Islands.
VIZ Media publishes the My Hero Academia manga in English and Crunchyroll streams the anime adaptation, describing it like so:
Izuku has dreamt of being a hero all his life—a lofty goal for anyone, but especially challenging for a kid with no superpowers. That’s right, in a world where eighty percent of the population has some kind of super-powered “quirk,” Izuku was unlucky enough to be born completely normal. But that’s not enough to stop him from enrolling in one of the world’s most prestigious hero academies.
