If you’re a fan of both My Hero Academia and the National Basketball Association, then this ought to be of interest! There’s a lot of merchandise out there for anime favorites, and now My Hero Academia, TOHO Animation, Crunchyroll, the NBA, NBALAB and HYPERFLY are all working together on special clothing that matches up MHA with different NBA teams.
Not all NBA teams will be included, however. It will just be these nine: The Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls, Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks and Portland Trail Blazers.
The clothes will first become available to people attending NBA Con in Las Vegas during July 7-9. However, you don’t have to rush to Vegas if you want this clothing. This autumn you can purchase the same clothes items online, and they will be available through Crunchyroll’s store, NBAStore.com (NBAStore.jp if you live in Japan), LIDS.com, HYPERFLY.com and elsewhere.
Crunchyroll, which shared the news, said that the merchandise will have “All Might on t-shirts, hoodies and satin jackets.” It did not go into a lot of detail on the clothing, but rather mostly teased people about the line. It does describe the clothing as “streetwear.”
VIZ Media publishes the original My Hero Academia manga in English, and gave this description for the first volume:
“Middle school student Izuku Midoriya wants to be a hero more than anything, but he hasn’t got an ounce of power in him. With no chance of ever getting into the prestigious U.A. High School for budding heroes, his life is looking more and more like a dead end. Then an encounter with All Might, the greatest hero of them all, gives him a chance to change his destiny…”
