The Gridman Universe anime film is coming to continue the saga on March 24, 2023, but ahead of that we’ll get a chance to recap the events that paved the way. The official website announced plans for both previous series to get their own compilation films prior to the opening of the new movie, with the SSSS.Gridman compilation film to open in Japan on January 20 and the SSSS.Dynazenon anime film to follow on March 10.
Both films will run for a limited two-week period in Japan, and you can see their respective trailers and visuals below.
The SSSS.Gridman movie will open to the tune of OxT’s “UNION” and close to Maaya Uchida’s “youthful beautiful.” SSSS.Dynazenon will open with Masayoshi Oishi’s “Imperfect” and close with Maaya Uchida’s “Strobe Memory” ending theme. The cast members of both TV anime are returning for the movies, with Yoshiyuki Kaneko (assistant director on SSSS.Gridman) directing Gridman and Yoshihiro Miyajima (assistant director on SSSS.Dynazenon) directing Dynazenon. Writing and character design duties for both films fall to Keiichi Hasegawa and Masaru Sakamoto, respectively.
Both series are currently available to stream on Crunchyroll. Here’s the synopsis for SSSS.Gridman:
Yuta Hibiki can’t remember who he is, and now he’s seeing and hearing things that others don’t! A voice from an old computer tells him to remember his calling, and he sees a massive, unmoving creature in the distance. Nothing’s making sense—until the behemoth springs to life! Suddenly, Yuta is pulled into the digital world, reappearing in the real one as the colossal hero—Gridman!
