Anime Composer Shiro Sagisu to Direct Free Genshin Impact Concert

Shiro Sagisu has composed music for a number of anime, including Berserk, Bleach, Neon Genesis Evangelion and more. But right now he’s in the news because he’s been tapped to direct a concert for the music of the Genshin Impact game. The event, called “Genshin Concert 2022,” will occur October 2 and will be free to stream on Genshin Impact‘s YouTube channel. It will last an hour and fifteen minutes and start at 12:00 PM UTC+8. If you’d like a general idea of what the experience will entail, a short teaser video was just released for fans.

The music will be played by the Hollywood Chamber Orchestra and conducted by Irish video game composer Eímear Noone.

“The original Genshin Impact soundtracks fit perfectly into the actual in-game scenes and ambiance, and also provide much to imagine beyond the game,” Sagisu remarked. “Together with the HOYO-MiX team and global artists, we’ve tried different touches to the music, weaving elements of pop music, rock, and jazz into it. Hopefully, we can create a refreshing and fun experience for the players.”

The composition and production of the game’s soundtrack was done by Yu-Peng Chen and HOYO-MiX.

Here is HoYoverse’s description of the Genshin Impact game:

“Step into Teyvat, a vast world teeming with life and flowing with elemental energy.

You and your sibling arrived here from another world. Separated by an unknown god, stripped of your powers, and cast into a deep slumber, you now awake to a world very different from when you first arrived.

Thus begins your journey across Teyvat to seek answers from The Seven — the gods of each element. Along the way, prepare to explore every inch of this wondrous world, join forces with a diverse range of characters, and unravel the countless mysteries that Teyvat holds…”
