The new season of Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! (Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai! in the original Japanese) is coming out this autumn, and its first full promotional video has dropped.
The second season is officially titled called Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai! ω. The ω at the end is supposed to be said as “double.”
Though an exact date for the release hasn’t been revealed yet, the video did tell us more about the cast and crew. Shin’ichi Fukumoto, who previously worked as an episode director for the first season, is the second season’s assistant director. The chief animation directors consist of Masahiko Suzuki, Shinpei Koikawa, and Manabu Kurihara. Art direction and art setting are both being done by Satoshi Ōkubo. The music comes to us thanks to Satoshi Igarashi, Tatsuya Yano, Yuri Morita, and Naoki Tani (HANO).
Sound production is credited to INCS toenter Co.,ltd. and zuvo. Haruko Nobori is new as the color key artist. The compositing director of photography is Yūsuke Yamamoto.
Looking toward the cast, there are two new announcements. Seina Katō will play Uzaki’s younger sister, Yanagi, and Hideo Ishikawa will play Uzaki’s dad, Fujio.
The opening theme song is called “Ichigro Ichie Celebration” (translated as “Once-in-a-Lifetime Celebration”) and is performed by Kano and Uzaki-chan.
Season one launched in 2020, and Funimation streamed it simultaneously.
The original manga was created by Take in 2017 and is being published in America by Seven Seas Entertainment. The publisher gave this description of the manga:
“Sakurai Shinichi’s one wish is for a little peace and quiet. But Uzaki Hana–his boisterous, well-endowed underclassman–has other plans. All she wants is to hang out and poke fun at him. With the help of her chipper charm and peppy persistence, this might just be the start of a beautiful relationship!”
