The nominees for Kodansha’s 46th annual Manga Awards have been revealed! We’ll learn the actual winners on May 11, but in the meantime, congratulations to all the nominations! Let’s take a look at what’s running.
In the category of Best Shonen Manga, we have:
A Couple of Cuckoos by Miki Yoshikawa (published in Weekly Shonen Magazine)
Shangri-La Frontier by Ryōsuke Fuji and Katarina (published in Weekly Shonen Magazine)
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe (published in Weekly Shonen Sunday)
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime by Taiki Kawakami (published in Shonen Sirius magazine)
Moving on to the category of Best Shojo Manga, we have:

There used to also be a Best Children’s Manga category, but Kodansha did away with that in 2015, instead putting those manga into the Shonen and Shojo categories.
In 2021, Blue Lock by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yūsuke Nomura received the Shonen award, A Condition Called Love by Megumi Morino received the Shojo award, and Yuria Sensei no Akai Ito by Kiwa Irie received the General Manga award.
