This summer will mark the debut of a traditional Noh / Kyogen theatrical performance adapting Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, and author Koyoharu Gotouge whipped up some special art for the occasion. The first visual sees Gotouge depicting protagonist Tanjiro in customary Noh garb, representing some of the oldest theatrical arts still performed in the world.
Noh refers to the dramatic performance piece characterized by its use of Noh masks, and Kyogen refers to the comedic performance put on between sets. The Demon Slayer Noh / Kyogen event has award-winning Kyogen actor Nomura Mansai II on board to direct and perform, and shows are stet to kick off for a limited six-day run from July 26 to July 31 at Tokyo’s Ginza Six Noh theater. Further performances will follow in Osaka this December.

While there’s no date yet, the next anime plan for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is an adaptation of the Swordsmith Village Arc.
