Another 86 EIGHTY-SIX Episode Delayed Due to Production Issues

86 eighty-six

It looks like fans of the 86 EIGHTY-SIX anime—which adapts the novel series by Asato Asato—will have to wait for yet another episode. Following the airing of the previously postponed episode 18, the production committee announced that a similar delay is in store for the next installment.

Episode 19 will now air on TV in Japan on December 4. The production committee cites “circumstances of production” as the key reason for the delay.

Just as the 18th episode’s delay had a look back at the second part of the series air in its place, so too will episode 19 have a replacement of its own. This episode’s slot will feature a “special edition” broadcast of the show. Beyond that, the episode that was planned for December 11 will also have to be pushed back, this time due to special programming.

Crunchyroll is streaming the second part of the TV anime as it airs in Japan. Here’s how they describe the overall series:

Called “Juggernaut,” these are the unmanned combat drones developed by the Republic of San Magnolia in answer to the attacks by the autonomous unmanned drones of the neighboring Empire of Giad, the “Legion”. But they’re only unmanned in name. In reality, they are piloted by the Eighty-sixers—those considered to be less than human and treated as mere tools. Determined to achieve his own mysterious ends, Shin, the captain of Spearhead Squadron, which is comprised of Eighty-sixers, continues to fight a hopeless war on a battlefield where only death awaits him.
