Things are moving along for The Girl from the Other Side: Siúil, a Rún OAD after its successful Kickstarter campaign. The OAD won’t be released until March, when it will be bundled with a volume of the spinoff manga in Japan, but in the meantime two videos have been released for us to see.
The first is a trailer about two minutes long, and the second is an almost-ten-minutes-long video of Jun Fukuyama (who plays Teacher) and Rie Takahashi (who plays Shiva) talking during their recording sessions.
Wit Studio funded this feature-length OAD with a Kickstarter that it set up on March 10. Thanks to the franchise’s dedicated fanbase, it got all the money it needed within a day. In fact, it got extra money, which means they’re also going to make a bonus short anime. The project is also making the point of bringing back people who worked on the anime version of it that already came out. So we’ll have the same people directing, writing and designing the characters, among other facets of the anime.
Seven Seas publishes the original manga in English, and gave this description for it:
“In a world split between the Inside and the Outside, those living in both realms are told never to cross over to the other side, lest they be cursed. A young girl named Shiva lives on the other side, in a vacant village with a demonic guardian known only as ‘Teacher.’ Although the two are forbidden to touch, they seem to share a bond that transcends their disparate appearances. But when Shiva leaves Teacher’s care to seek out her grandmother, the secret behind her mysterious living arrangement comes to light.”
