The two-parter Pretty Guardians Sailor Moon Eternal movies became available on Netflix on June 3. While they’ve been up streaming a few months now, Netflix released a new trailer for it that shows the anime “step by step.”
This particular video has the English dub, but the Spanish, French, Portuguese, German and Thai dubs are available to watch in this format as well. You can also choose to have English, Japanese, traditional Chinese, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese, or Thai subtitles to go with it. The video is just under five minutes long and starts with Chibiusa introducing things. As the trailer goes on, we repeatedly get to see the earlier animation set against the final animation, letting us get a sneak peek at the process behind bringing Sailor Moon to life.
The English dub actors are the same actors as the previous seasons of Sailor Moon Crystal. They’re also the same actors VIZ Media hired for their redub of the original Sailor Moon anime.
Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal The Movie was supposed to come out in 2020, but like many things was delayed because of COVID-19. So instead of opening on September 11, 2020, the first movie opened on January 8, 2021. The second movie of the two-parter opened in Japanese theaters on February 11.
Netflix gave this description of the movie:
“When a dark power enshrouds the Earth after a total solar eclipse, the scattered Sailor Guardians must reunite to bring light back into the world.”
The Sailor Moon Crystal franchise is meant to be more accurate to the original manga, and these movies take the place of what would have been the fourth season for the series.
Have you seen Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal The Movie, and what do you think of this behind-the-scenes look at the animation?
