The anime Tondemo Senshi Muteking came out in Japan in the early 1980s, and its reboot Muteking the Dancing Hero is coming out on October 2. A brightly colored and musical trailer has dropped that lets us hear both the opening theme song (“Labyrinth” performed by Orange Range) as well as the ending theme song (“Kibō no Uta,” which is translated as “Song of Hope” and is performed by KALMA).
Credits for the original work goes to Tatsunoko Pro. The job of executive directing goes to Hiroshi Sasagawa, who also worked on the original Tondemo Senshi Muteking. Meanwhile, the chief director is Ryousuke Takahashi, who has previously worked on Cyborg 009. The series is being directed by Yuuzou Satou, who was the CGI director for the Flowers of Evil anime. Masafumi Sato, who directed Denki-Gai, has taken on the task of being the assistant director as well as battle dance director.
Yūji Kondōu of Layton Mystery Tanteisha: Katori no Nazotoki File is in charge of looking over all the scripts. The anime is getting produced by Tatsunoko Pro and none other than Tezuka Productions, the studio created by Osamu “God of Manga” Tezuka. The music will be composed by the combination of Takamitsu Shimazaki and Takeshi Masuda.
The cast has also been revealed: Kentarō Mashiro plays Muteki, Takuya Eguchi plays DJ, Satoshi Hino plays Seo, Rie Takahashi plays Aida-san, Madoka Yonezawa plays An, Azusa Tadokoro plays Naomi, Rikako Aikawa plays Sera, Kazuyuki Okitsu plays Vivi, Keiga plays Haru, Hayato Kimura plays Summer, Minami Tanaka plays Aki, Kōtarō Nishiyama plays Winter, KENN plays Suteking, Yutaka Aoyama plays Matt, Takashi Matsuyama plays Tommy, Wataru Hatano plays George, and Kenichi Suzumura plays Owen.
The original anime has not been licensed in America. It ran for 56 episodes and occurs in a city clearly influenced by San Francisco (as you can see the San Francisco influences in the reboot as well).
