The BL mystery manga The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window by Tomoko Yamashita is published in America by SuBLime, and an anime version is coming out in October. Ahead of this a trailer has dropped that includes more information on the cast.
According to this trailer, Sōma Saitō will play Keita Mukae, Chika Anzai will play Erika Hiura, Satoshi Mikami will play Hiroki Hanzawa, and Junichi Suwabe will play Sakaki. It had previously been revealed that Nobunaga Shimazaki will play Kosuke Mikado and Wataru Hatano will play Rihito Hiyakawa, the two leads.
Yoshitaka Yasuda, who directed the Tsugumomo OVA and did the character designs for Joe vs. Joe, is both director and character designer. The chief director job goes to Daiji Iwanaga and Ayumi Sekine of IDOLiSH7 is in charge of the scripts.
SuBLime, VIZ Media’s BL imprint, gave this description of the manga:
“Shy bookstore clerk Kosuke Mikado has the ability to see ghosts and spirits, an ability he wishes he didn’t have, since what he sees usually terrifies him. Rihito Hiyakawa, an exorcist whose supernatural powers are as strong as his social graces are weak, doesn’t seem to fear anything, mortal or otherwise. When this odd couple gets together to solve the bizarre cases that come their way, their work methods may not be entirely safe for work!”
If you’re interested in seeing it, Crunchyroll will be streaming it at the same time it comes out in Japan. The manga initially debuted back in March 2013 and was finished late last year. It’s done well enough that, in addition to this anime adaptation, it also received a live-action adaptation that hit Japanese theaters earlier in 2021.
SuBLime releases the manga as a digital-only read. It most recently released the seventh volume.
