Sixteen years after its completion, the manga Mermaid Melody: Pichi Pichi Pitch is getting a sequel. The new manga will be called Mermaid Melody: Pichi Pichi Pitch aqua and be about protagonist Lucia’s daughter.
The original manga, which was published in America by Del Rey, credits Michiko Yokote for the scenario and Pink Hanamori for the manga. Hanamori is involved in the sequel series, but Yokote is not mentioned.
The manga will make its debut in Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine in the issue releasing August 3. It will get star treatment by also being put on the magazine’s cover.
An anime adaptation of the original manga also played from 2003-2004.
