There are so many great anime dogs, we’d never be able to pet them all. And some are so dangerous, we’re better off not trying. That doesn’t mean we wouldn’t if we could, though.
In our quest to appreciate all the best pups of our favorite anime, here are a few that are way too dangerous to pet. But I’d do it anyway.
Iggy, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure
Like just about everything in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Iggy the Boston Terrier is… kinda weird. He’s one of the more human-looking anime dogs out there, at least eventually —fans will remember his weird little man-face. And he’s also a Stand user, because ain’t nothin’ in the rulebook that says a dog can’t use Stands.
Iggy’s Stand, The Fool, is one of the less violent ones out there, granted. It allows him to shape anyone and anything out of sand, as opposed to doing anything outright murderous. But a Stand-wielding dog named after Iggy Pop with his attitude?… yeah, we’re still not crossing him.
Alexander, Fullmetal Alchemist
What? I hear you cry. Alexander? One of the sweetest-looking anime dogs out there? He’s not dangerous at all! And you’d be right, dear reader. He’s not dangerous. But getting too attached to him most certainly is.
We all know what happened with Nina Tucker by now. We all know what happens when a bad dad who hasn’t studied for his State Alchemist exam gets a terrible idea. And we’re not actually blaming Alexander for what happened. All we’re saying is, he’s absolutely a risky one to go near. And we’d probably still take that risk. And have to talk to Edward Elric about it later.
Romero, Zombie Land Saga
This anime dog comes in two flavors: cute and undead, and… whatever’s going on up there. The appropriately named mascot pup of Zombie Land Saga is, normally, a fluffy little friend who’d look at home on Gloomy Bear merch. But once in a while, he goes full terrifying.
Much like the members of Franchouchou themselves, we’d prefer to give this zombie the benefit of the doubt. Unlike Franchouchou, Romero doesn’t seem to have the same degree of restraint as his living brethren. Even so, we’d risk a chomp for the opportunity to boop that snoot. It’s no wonder he features so prominently on the show’s — and group’s — goods.
