The My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising movie is now available in America through Funimation. In honor of this, Anime News Network did a video interview with two members of the dub cast that voice key My Hero Academia characters: Justin Briner (Deku) and Clifford Chapin (Bakugo).

The interview talks about the characters’ relationship to each other, what makes someone a hero, how Bakugo is divisive, exciting fight scenes, and more.

“I’d say I’d relate to Izuku a fair bit,” Briner said when asked about relating to characters. “We both share kind of a nervous energy. But otherwise I share his passion, his single-mindedness . . . . I’ve been rooting for him.”

“One of the things that’s so great about My Hero Academia is that the characters are so rich and developed they feel like real people, even when their abilities and the things they can do are so beyond reality,” said Chapin. “It’s easy to relate to any of the characters or anything they go through because they feel so natural and real.”
