First Princess Principal: Crown Handler Film Opens February 11

First Princess Principal: Crown Handler Films Opens on February 11Let’s get ready to handle some crowns. The first film in the upcoming Princess Principal: Crown Handler series is finally headed to screens after a COVID-19-related delay.

The film was initially set for this April. In late March, the head of Studio Actas tweeted that it was complete—but that didn’t help much, considering theaters across the country were closed.

Now they’re back in operation, and the first film in the series is finally set to drop into Japanese theaters on February 11.

The first film is called Princess Principal Crown Handler Part 1, and it’s directed by Masaki Tachibana, who helmed the original 2017 series. It’s the first of six (!) planned films.

Crew:

Director: Masaki Tachibana (Princess Principal)
Screenplay: Noboru Kimura (Gundam Build Fighters)
Character designs: Yukie Akiya (Princess Principal), Kimitake Nishio (Moetan)
Music: Yuki Kajiura (Princess Principal, Madoka Magica)
Studio: Actas

The cast will carry over from the series, with the exception of Ayaka Imamura (Ange), who retired in 2018. Instead, Ange will be played by Aoi Koga.

Here’s how Sentai Filmworks describes the 2017 series:

At the end of the 19th century, London, the Kingdom of Albion has been split into East and West sides by a giant wall. Five girls attend Queen’s Mayfaire, a conventional and prestigious school. Under the guise of regular high school girls, they act as spies under cover. Disguise, reconnaissance, infiltration, car chases… Each girl uses their own set of special skills to dart around the world of shadow.

Who’s looking forward to the Crown Handler film series?
