The 23rd Pokémon anime film, Pokémon the Movie: Coco, was originally set to premiere in Japan on July 10, but was hit with a delay due to the spread of COVID-19. Now, according to the latest issue of Monthly CoroCoro Comic, the movie has been pushed back to a winter release.
While that might not sound like a terribly huge deal, it’s the first time in the 22-year history of the film franchise for one of the entries to be released in winter. All of the preceding films have made their debut in Japan in July since 1998.
Fans hoping to secure tickets early will be able to get special advance tickets starting on August 7 for ¥1,400 (general) and ¥800 (junior). The bonus that comes with it is a code for phantom Pokémon Celebi of a Different Color and Zarude in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield.
