A few days ago, One Piece author Eiichiro Oda updated everyone on how the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is affecting production of his manga. This week, Weekly Shonen Jump‘s official Japanese Twitter account shared a statement of its own, highlighting how the virus and State of Emergency might impact publication and preparing everyone for the potential of postponement.

In order to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection, Weekly Shonen Jump is currently asking serialized manga creators to work in a way that minimizes the risk of infection.
Because of this, it will take more time to complete manga chapters, so chapters being postponed may be unavoidable.
This won’t be the last we hear about manga chapters being postponed, so stay tuned for further updates.
Previously, it was revealed that Takao Saito’s Golgo 13 manga would be going on hiatus for the first time in 52 years.
