It’s almost time to see what the amazing Rumiko Takahashi—creator of classic manga series like Maison Ikkoku, Ranma 1/2, InuYasha, and many more—is cooking up next. Back in January, the author took home the Grand Prix d’Angoulême at the 46th Angoulême International Comics Festival, and she’s officially following up her impressive body of work with a new series next month.
The tentatively titled MAO is set to launch in the 23rd issue of Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine, which launches in Japan on May 8. All we know about the story so far is that it concerns the fated meeting of a boy and girl and the strange romance that ensues, and it takes place on the intersection of two worlds.
Takahashi’s previous series, RIN-NE, ended back in December of 2017 for a total of 40 volumes.
