The latest theatrical outing for Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball franchise has been no slouch in the Japanese box office. According to the latest update, Dragon Ball Super: Broly has pulled in a whopping ¥3,354,780,500 (about US $30,837,498) from a total of 2,604,870 tickets in the 24 days since it opened in Japan.
This puts Broly on track to surpass the franchise’s current box office champion, 2015’s Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’, which earned ¥3.74 billion over the course of its run.
Broly also recently opened in Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore, where it has ranked in the top 10 and already passed Resurrection ‘F’‘s totals. It even managed to break the highest opening record for a Japanese animation film in history in Malaysia and Brazil.
