The World Cosplay Summit in Nagoya Japan has been making headlines every year since 2003, as cosplayers from around the world stun judges with their well-crafted costumes. One thing that tends to be overlooked however, is that Nagoya’s governor Hideaki Omura shows up in costumers of his own to thank cosplayers for bringing attention to his prefecture.
This year, Nagoya’s governor chose to appear as Kirito from Sword Art Online. He tweeted a photo from his office, and posed for group photos with participants at the Summit itself.

This isn’t the first Omura has visited the World Cosplay Summit in costume. Over previous years he’s variously appeared as Goku, Detective Conan, Gintama‘s Tohiro, and Space Battleship Yamato‘s Dessler.

The World Cosplay Summit runs until August 5th, so the winners haven’t been revealed yet. If they’re anything like China’s Blood: The Last Vampire cosplayers, who won first place in 2017, it should be an impressive showing.
