If you want to get a peek behind-the-scenes at the life and work of Studio Ghibli co-founder Hayao Miyazaki, now’s your chance.
NHK World TV is set to re-air an English-subtitled version of last year’s documentary “Never-Ending Man: Hayao Miyazaki” this June.
The documentary, which originally aired on NHK last November, traces Miyazaki from the moment he announced his retirement in 2013 and his work on the CG-animated short “Boro the Caterpillar.”
Though that’s the main focus of the film, it was also the source of the revelation Miyazaki is returning to full-length filmmaking. It also features the now-infamous scene in which the director derides AI-created animation as “an insult to life itself.”
“Never-Ending Man: Hayao Miyazaki” will air on NHK World TV, which has a live online stream, June 3 and 4.
