Do you like the films of Hayao Miyazaki (Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro)?
Me too. But maybe not as much as this guy.
French animation student Gwenn Germain, student at art school Creapole, has created a pretty stunning 2:30 minute short that pays loving tribute to the Studio Ghibli co-founder and his films.
Aside from looking a lot like a Miyazaki film, it sounds like one too: Germain used music from the Takeshi Kitano film Hana-bi, which was scored by longtime Miyazaki collaborator Joe Hisaishi.
While Miyazaki is the most obvious influence on the short, Germain also cited Blade Runner and Turn A Gundam designer Syd Mead and French illustrator Moebius.
Make sure to watch until the end to catch a glimpse of a bearded man who looks suspiciously like Miyazaki himself…
