As promised, the SAND LAND: THE SERIES anime moved on from the story of the film and manga to venture into Forest Land for a new arc titled The Story of the Angel Hero. The late Akira Toriyama conceived the new story himself, and it’s on display in a brand new trailer and visual, both below.

As previously reported, the first six episodes of the SAND LAND anime will bring the contents of the film to the small screen, but starting with episode seven it’s moving into new territory. Episodes 7-13 will take the story to Forest Land. With the new story arc comes new characters, and the Forestland story introduces Anna (voiced by Mikako Komatsu) and Meunière (voiced by Ayumu Murase). There are currently 10 episodes available to stream, with Disney+ streaming around the world.

The SAND LAND movie features direction by Toshihisa Yokoshima and Hiroshi Kojina, with production at Sunrise, Kamikaze Douga and ANIMA.

Here’s how VIZ Media describes the original manga by Akira Toriyama:

In the far future, war has destroyed the entire Earth, leaving only a barren wasteland where the supply of water is controlled by the greedy king. In search of a long-lost lake, Sheriff Rao asked the king of the demons for help…and got the king’s son, Beelzebub, and his assistant, Thief. Together the unlikely trio sets off across the desert, facing dragons, bandits and the deadliest foe of all… the King’s army itself! It’s travel adventure and tank action in this new story from Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball Z!
