Yasuomi Umetsu’s Virgin Punk: Clockwork Girl Debuts June 27

Yasuomi Umetsu is back. The director of classic action anime like Kite and Mezzo Forte is returning with an original anime series called Virgin Punk. Today it was revealed that the first episode of Virgin Punk, which is called Clockwork Girl, will open at two theaters in Japan on June 27. Specifically, the debut episode will be shown at Cine Libre Ikebukuro in Tokyo and Theatre Umeda in Osaka.

The Virgin Punk series is animated at Shaft, with scripts from Yuya Takahashi (Lupin III Part IV) and animation from Genichiro Abe, Shinya Takahashi and Maho Kando. The project has been gestating since 2014 after Umetsu directed his last series, Wizard Barristers.

Additional staff members include art designer Shinichi Yokota; art directors Yuji Honjo and Yuki Funagakure; color designer Yasuko Watanabe; directors of photography Takayuki Aizu and Rei Egami; editor Rie Matsubara; sound director Shoji Hata and music composer Yoshiaki Dewa.
