Sankarea creator Mitsuru Hattori launched the Wash It All Away manga in 2017 and ended it in 2023, and now it’s coming to the screen. Happinet announced plans for a TV anime adaptation, which is currently penciled in to debut sometime in 2026.
Kenta Onishi (The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter) directs, with Toko Machida on series composition and Azuma Tozawa on character designs for the Okuru to Noboru production.
So far the lead cast member has been revealed as Sayumi Suzushiro, who voices Wakana Kinme. You can see the first teaser visual below.
The Wash It All Away manga ran in Square Enix’s Young Gangan magazine and was ultimately collected across 10 volumes, with a new side story chapter coming this week. Square Enix Manga & Books publishes the manga in English—the first volume launched on April 22—and sums up the story like so:
With an endearing protagonist and luscious art, this seaside slice-of-life story offers tranquility in the chaos of the modern world. For two years, Wakana Kinme has run a laundry service in the seaside resort town of Atami, where she’s built a fulfilling life making friends with the locals and visiting hot springs. Although Wakana has no knowledge of her own past, her cleaning services safeguard memories imbued in customers’ precious items.
