Uzumaki Anime Main English Dub Cast Revealed

Anime Expo offered up some new details on Toonami’s long-awaited Uzumaki anime mini-series adaptation. Specifically, the main cast of the English dub has been announced! Let’s take a look.

Abby Trott plays Kirie Goshima, Robbie Daymond plays Shuichi Saito, Cristina Vee plays Azami Kurotani, Doug Stone plays Kirie’s father, Aaron LaPlante plays Shuichi’s father, Mona Marshall plays Shuichi’s mother, and Max Mittelman plays Katayama.

Uzumaki was originally a manga by horror mangaka Junji Ito, and one of his most famous titles.

Various delays have slowed down Uzumaki, as it was initially meant to come out in 2020. But we all know how plans went in 2020. It hit a few more snags; however, the announcement of the dub cast hopefully means it will be debuting on Toonami soon.

Last year at San Diego Comic-Con Toonami shared this preview, which is just short of three minutes long. It’s in Japanese with English subtitles.

It had also been previously revealed that Ito himself has done voice work for the anime adaptation. Other voices in the Japanese version include Shinichiro Miki playing Shuichi Saito, Uki Satake playing Kirie Goshima, Ami Fukushima playing Shiho, Katsutoshi Matsuzaki playing Katayama, Mariya Ise playing Azami Kurotani, Mika Doi playing Yukie Saito,Takashi Matsuyama playing Shuichi’s father, Tatsumaru Tachibana playing Tsumura, Toshio Furukawa playing Kirie’s father, and Wataru Hatano playing Okada.

VIZ Media publishes the original manga as a 3-in-1 deluxe edition, and gave this description for its plot:

Kurouzu-cho, a small fogbound town on the coast of Japan, is cursed. According to Shuichi Saito, the withdrawn boyfriend of teenager Kirie Goshima, their town is haunted not by a person or being but a pattern: UZUMAKI, the spiral—the hypnotic secret shape of the world. The bizarre masterpiece horror manga is now available all in a single volume. Fall into a whirlpool of terror!
