Unconventional Anime Powers Charging up the Winter Season

These anime powers are more than they might appear at first glance!

New season, new fantasy anime… and new cheat skills! We’ve seen some pretty bizarre anime powers in our time, from impossible stats to interdimensional portals. Each new season is full of surprises, and Winter 2025 is no exception. For example, check out these surprising super skills in the latest fantasy and isekai titles! They may not seem like much at first glance, but they’re sure to help our heroes achieve great things.

Fruit Mastery

Bogus Skill Fruitmaster

In the world of Bogus Skill <<Fruitmaster>> ~About that time I became able to eat unlimited numbers of Skill Fruits (that kill you)~, anime powers come from fruit. Everyone gets one. Don’t like it? Too bad, because eating a second Skill Fruit will poison you to death. Unfortunately for protagonist Light, he didn’t get a skill that would make him a great adventurer. Or, at least, he assumed he didn’t.

While his childhood friend Lena became the once-in-a-decade Sword Saint, he ended up with “Fruitmaster.” But that has some exceptional side effects. Yes, he can grow really good fruit. But he can also eat multiple Skill Fruits without dying. Meaning he can benefit from them and gain all sorts of skills. But what happens when the powers that be discover his abilities? Watch Bogus Skill <<Fruitmaster>> on Crunchyroll and find out!

Appraisal

Worthless Appraiser Class

As anime powers go, appraisal is nothing new. But with a little help, Ein Rayshik can do all sorts of new things with his skill. Even Given the Worthless “Appraiser” Class, I’m Actually the Strongest is another series where everyone gets a single skill. Saddled with the unappreciated Appraisal skill, Ein exists at the bottom rung of his adventuring party. Or he did until he met Yuri, one of nine World Tree spirits.

With the help of Yuri and her guardian Ursula, Ein learns to upgrade his skill. Soon he can analyze anything at a glance and even copy abilities for himself. And as he travels the world to find Yuri’s eight sisters, he learns even more. Where will his adventures take him? Start reading the manga to find out, then tune in when the anime premieres on January 9!

Good Communication

Headhunted to Another World

Not all anime powers are magical in nature. Sometimes, a hero just needs to know how to close a deal. And if you’re good enough, you might just get headhunted to another world! That’s what happens to Dennosuke Uchimura, a put-upon office worker offloaded to his company’s overseas branches. But a certain Demon King sees promise in Uchimura, and soon he’s offered a spot as one of the King’s four generals. But, as the others point out, humans don’t exactly have a lot of strength or magic.

So what does Uchimura bring to the table? Years of experience and a can-do spirit. His ability to communicate across cultural boundaries could turn the tide for the Demon King. What else will he accomplish? Tune in to Headhunted to Another World: From Salaryman to Big Four! to find out!

You know what else is wild this season? Anime reincarnations!
