The Top 20 Most-Anticipated Fall 2021 Anime According to Otaku USA Readers

With the Fall 2021 anime season coming up in October, we polled our readers last weekend to find out what which Fall 2021 series they were most excited for. This Fall season features new seasons for many popular shows like Demon Slayer, Shield Hero, and World Trigger which fans have been waiting for since before the pandemic, so there are sure to be some strong opinions felt here.

The poll received over 600 votes across 46 different series, which we’ve compiled into the following top 20 list:

20. Platinum End (6 votes)
19. The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated (7 votes)
18. Muv-Luv Alternative (8 votes)
17. My Senpai Is Annoying (9 votes)
16. Banished from the Hero’s Party (10 votes)
15. World Trigger 3rd Season (11 votes)
14. Requiem Of The Rose King (12 votes)
13. Digimon Ghost Game (13 votes)
12. Boruto: Naruto Next Generations (14 votes)
11. Mieruko-Chan (15 votes)
10. World’s End Harem (16 votes)
9. Blue Period (19 votes)
8. Yashahime Princess Half Demon The Second Act (21 votes)
7. Fena: Pirate Princess (23 votes)
6. Restaurant to Another World 2 (35 votes)
5. Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation 2nd Cour (36 votes)
4. 86 Eighty-Six Season 2 (37 votes)
3. Komi Can’t Communicate (48 votes)
2. The Rising of The Shield Hero Season 2 (99 votes)
1. Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba: Yuukaku-hen (128 votes)

Unsurprisingly, the top rankings are mostly dominated by the aforementioned popular long-awaited returning series. Komi Can’t Communicate was the only brand new show to make it into the top five. In the case of World Trigger, it seems waiting since 2014 for a second season was a bridge too far, as only 11 participants were still willing to vote for it.

86 Eighty Six seems to have grown significantly with our readers since it first aired; netting almost twice as many votes here compared to when we polled readers about their favorite Spring 2021 shows back in May. Conversely, excitement for Yashahime seems to have fallen significantly since the leadup to its Fall 2020 debut; though we don’t have poll results from back then to prove it.

Were you surprised by any other rankings in the list? Are there any new shows you feel deserved more votes? Let us know in the comments!
