The sequel anime Tokyo Revengers: Christmas Showdown will debut on January 7. The crew revealed that the opening theme song will be “White Noise” and performed by Official HiGE DANdism. But they didn’t just tell us this. They’re letting us listen to it, and watch. Yes, they’ve released the clean opening animation sequence for us all to check out.
We don’t hear it here, but the ending theme song is “Kizutsukedo, Aishiteru” (“It might be painful, but I still love it” according to the official translation) and that is performed by Tuyu. Tuyu consists of Pusu (the songwriter and guitarist), miro (the pianist) and Rei (the singer).
A couple new cast members have been announced: Mikako Komatsu plays Yuzuha Shiba and Tomokazu Sugita plays Taiju Shiba.
The original manga by Ken Wakui is published in America by Kodansha USA Publishing, which gave this description for the plot:
“Watching the news, Takemichi Hanagaki learns that his girlfriend from way back in middle school, Hinata Tachibana, has died. The only girlfriend he ever had was just killed by a villainous group known as the Tokyo Manji Gang. He lives in a crappy apartment with thin walls, and his six-years-younger boss treats him like an idiot. Plus, he’s a complete and total virgin … At the height of his rock-bottom life, he suddenly time-leaps twelve years back to his middle school days!! To save Hinata, and change the life he spent running away, hopeless part-timer Takemichi must aim for the top of Kanto’s most sinister delinquent gang!!”
The manga began in spring of 2017, being published by Weekly Shonen Magazine. The Tokyo Revengers: Christmas Showdown anime will be streamed on Disney+ in Japan and throughout Asia (sometimes on Disney+ Hotstar) due to an agreement Kodansha and Disney have inked.
