Tokorozawa is 177 cm Tall Is a Sweet, (Mostly) Slice-of-Life Shojo-ai

Tokorozawa is 177 cm Tall is a short shojo-ai manga. The first part of the manga concentrates on the titular Tokorozawa, who is taller than her classmate Shirakawa, and it starts with Shirakawa asking Tokorozawa if she can lean over her to see. (177 cm is about five foot eight.) Shirakawa suggests Tokorozawa might want to do something with her hair, and after that Tokorozawa goes to Shirakawa for advice on fashion.
There are multiple little vignettes of the two girls, who clearly have crushes on each other. They try on clothes, they talk about crushes (without admitting who it is they like) and they deal with every day stuff. So it’s pretty much a slice-of-life story with cute girls and some suggestive moments and scenes. Tokorozawa has one somewhat explicit dream, but mostly the stuff is hinted at and the girls lean into each other longingly without actually doing anything.
After that there are a few more short stories with cute girls in love. The stories might be over-the-top (like talking about marshmallow breasts) or more sensitive, like a girl who hides her face after being ostracized for liking another girl. So there is both laughter and sympathy. It also feels like there’s some stream of consciousness in the stories.
Some of the artwork is in color, though most sticks with black and white. The art style is soft and attractive, and there are some fanservicey scenes, like Tokorozawa’s maid lingerie or her dream. Still, the manga feels more sweet and gentle than anything else.
Tokorozawa is 177 cm Tall is going to be of most interest to people who like shojo-ai, and particularly if they like shojo-ai in real life stories, and even more so if they like shojo-ai that involves fashion and girls trying on different outfits.
