A trailer has just dropped for the anime The New Gate. It lets us know more about the voice talents involved and announces that the series will launch in April.

According to the trailer, Shunya Hiruma plays Wilhelm Avis, Akiho Suzumoto plays Millie, and Kaori Ishihara plays Rashia Luzel. Earlier it had been revealed that Kenshō Ono plays Shin, Asami Seto plays Schnee Raizar, Kaede Hondo plays Tiera Lucent, and Mika Okasaki plays Yuzuha.

The New Gate is getting made at Yokohama Animation Lab and Cloud Hearts, with Tamaki Nakatsu of Eyeshield 21: The Phantom Golden Bowl helming the project as director. The person in charge of series scripts is Hiroki Uchida, who has worked on The Strongest Sage With the Weakest Crest. The music is being composed by multiple people: Tatsuhiko Saiki, Yūya Mori, Misaki Tsuchida, and Tsugumi Tanaka. Credit for character design goes to Itsuki Takemoto, who previously worked as the animation director on Naruto Shippuden.

The franchise started out as a light novel series by Shinogi Kazanami, and it also has a manga adaptation. One Peace Books is publishing the manga version in English, and gave this description for the first volume:

THE NEW GATE―an online game transformed into a life-and-death struggle for its players. Thanks to the valiant efforts of Shin, the most powerful of them all, an end to the game and freedom for everyone seemed within reach. But just moments after Shin defeats the game’s final boss, he finds himself bathed in an unknown light and transported some 500 years into the future of the in-game world. Thrown from a simple game gone wrong into a strange new land, one young swordsman of unrivalled strength is about to embark on a legendary journey!

The manga’s 12th volume came out in English earlier this month, on February 6.
