The Detective is Already Dead Manga Comes to an End

In addition to a TV anime, Nigoju and Umibozu’s The Detective is Already Dead light novel series inspired a manga adaptation. Now that take on the material, which comes from Mugiko, has ended.

The final chapter of The Detective is Already Dead manga was published in the December issue of Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Alive magazine. It first launched back in May 2020, and the magazine said it would reach its climax in November 2021. The series then went on a brief hiatus after an epilogue for one of the arcs was published and returned to the pages of Monthly Comic Alive in March 2022 to start adapting the third volume of the novels.

Yen Press publishes the original The Detective is Already Dead novels in English and sums up the story like so:

Kimihiko Kimizuka has always been a magnet for trouble and intrigue. For as long as he can remember, he’s been stumbling across murder scenes or receiving mysterious attache cases to transport. When he met Siesta, a brilliant detective fighting a secret war against an organization of pseudohumans, he couldn’t resist the call to become her assistant and join her on an epic journey across the world. …Until a year ago, that is. Now he’s returned to a life that is normal and tepid by comparison, knowing the adventure must be over. After all, the detective is already dead.
