Yosuke Nakamura and Kyotaro Azuma’s Tenkaichi: The Greatest Warrior Under the Rising Sun manga has been running via Kodansha’s Young Animal imprint since January 2021, and now it’s getting an anime. The news comes just a week ahead of the launch of volume 11 in Japan, with more details to be divulged at a later date.
We’ll have to wait until then to find out about the anime’s staff, cast, release plans and more, but for now you can check out the announcement visual below.
K Manga publishes the series in English and sums up the story like so:
This is not history as we know it. The year is 1600. Ten years have passed since Oda Nobunaga unified the whole of Japan. When Nobunaga realizes he is nearing the end of his life, he announces that he will hand over the reins of power to whoever brings him the strongest warrior. The generals, whose dreams of conquering the country had been crushed, put up their own strongest warriors and aim to become the king of the country! The first match is peerless spear wielder Honda Tadakatsu (sponsored by Tokugawa leyasu) vs. evolving prodigy Miyamoto Musashi (sponsored by Chosokabe Motochika)!!
