The fallout of voice actor and OLDCODEX vocalist Tatsuhisa Suzuki’s recent controversies—which ultimately led to him taking a break from public activities due to “physical and mental fatigue”—continues, and the latest update concerns his role in the Tokyo Revengers anime. Suzuki voices Ken “Draken” Ryuguji in the adaptation of Ken Wakui’s manga, but a different actor will replace him for the upcoming Christmas Showdown arc.

The official announcement:

“We would like to announce that Tatsuhisa Suzuki, who has been playing the role of Ken Ryuguji, will be replaced after discussions between his agency and the production committee. The cast and staff of ‘Tokyo Revengers’ will continue to work together on the production of the ‘Christmas Showdown’ arc.”

Suzuki was also recently replaced in The Misfit of Demon King Academy.

If you were wondering about the fate of OLDCODEX, the band announced they will be disbanding on April 22, 2022, which is also when the final Free! -the Final Stroke- anime film premieres. The movie contains a theme song by OLDCODEX, so that will effectively be the band’s final song.

The members of OLDCODEX thanked their fans for 12 years of support, and said they will keep working on music until the end with “a sense of gratitude.”
