Sword Art Online Anime Heads to Toonami

Sword Art Online is pretty darn popular, and it’s looking to get even more so with Aniplex of America’s announcement that the series—which adapts Reki Kawahara’s light novels of the same name—will be making its way to Adult Swim’s Toonami block.

According to Aniplex’s announcement at Anime Boston, the show will join the block this August.

Aniplex also detailed Sword Art Online‘s home video release plans. The show will be available in four limited edition Blu-ray sets and four standard edition DVD sets. The sets will ship on August 13 (set 1), September 17 (set 2), October 15 (set 3), and November 19 (set 4), and pre-orders kick off on Right Stuf and Aniplex’s site on May 28.

The Blu-ray collections—which have been listed with a retail price of $112.98 each, with the DVDs going for $49.98—come with a bunch of extra content across various volumes, including soundtrack CDs, booklets, interviews with the English and Japanese cast, creator commentary, and more.
