spy x family anime

The moment fans of the Jump manga have been waiting for finally happened over the weekend when a SPY x FAMILY TV anime adaptation was officially announced. It always seemed like a matter of when rather than if, and now we know to expect it sometime in 2022.

In addition to the general announcement, the official Twitter account opened with the first promo and more information on the adaptation of Tatsuya Endo’s popular manga. The SPY x FAMILY anime has Kazuhiro Furuhashi (Hunter x Hunter 1999) directing, with Kazuaki Shimada (THE PROMISED NEVERLAND) adapting the manga’s character designs for the WIT STUDIO and CloverWorks production.

Check out the trailer below, followed by a pair of visuals that play on the “spy” and “family” angles in their own way.

VIZ Media has been publishing the manga in English as it comes out in Japan via the Shonen Jump app, and also puts out physical volumes. Here’s how it describes the first:

Talented spy Twilight has his work cut out for him, procuring both a wife and a child for his mission to infiltrate an elite private school. What he doesn’t know is that the wife he’s chosen is an assassin and the child he’s adopted is a telepath!
