Sonic the Hedgehog Co-Creator Yuji Naka Leaves Square Enix

Sonic the Hedgehog co-creator Yuji Naka worked at Sega for more than two decades, then he became the president and CEO of the PROPE game development company. In 2018 he began working for Square Enix, and this past weekend he announced that he has left that company as well.

He left in April and declined to state a reason during his public announcement. However, he indicated he would talk about his resignation publicly at a later date. Naka, who is 55, also made a reference to possibly retiring, which might be his reason for leaving. During his time at Square Enix he directed the game Balan Wonderworld.
