The COVID-19 pandemic has hit a lot of businesses in Japan hard. That includes a shop in Nara specializing in plastic model kits which closed due to the effects of the pandemic.
But now its owners are finding a new way to do business by hitting the road. Yes, the shop is now mobile, with plastic models being sold from the back of a roving truck.
The truck stops at locations around Nara, then tweets its current location. The owner wrote he wasn’t sure anyone would buy anything, but that parents with their kids came because the “shop” was close by. The roving shop has also gained a lot of attention on social media.
The shop is called Hobby Shop Mega Doc, and it’s also started online sales.
Hey, man, if a plastic model shop pulled up near my house, I’d probably buy a kit or two!
正直、買ってもらえるか心配してましたが一度通り過ぎてからUターンして来てくれた方や親子で来てくれた方、近いからという事で自転車できてくれた方と、色々来ていただきありがとうございました。
