Add another sports anime to the list, because Ryman’s Club has been announced as an original badminton anime series. The project comes from TV Asahi and LIDEN FILMS, who revealed the series for broadcast on Asahi Broadcasting, BS Asahi, and 22 other affiliates as part of the NUMAnimation block in January 2022.
Centered on childhood badminton prodigy Mikoto Shiratori, Ryman’s Club follows badminton players on a corporate sales department team who play on the side. You can see those dual lives reflected in the first key visuals:
From left to right we have Junya Enoki as Mikoto Shiratori, SHin’ichiro Miki as Tatsuru Miyazumi, Kaito Ishikawa as Sota Saeki, Ryota Ohsaka as Toya Saeki, and Tetsuya Kakihara as Koki Takeda.
Aimi Yamauchi (unit director on City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes) is directing and handling series composition with Teruko Utsumi (Sarazanmai). The original characters come from Suzuhito Yasuda (Durarara!!) and have been adapted for animation by Majiro (Barakamon). LIDEN FILMS previously produced another badminton anime, Hanebad!.
