Rurouni Kenshin Kyoto Arc Musical Reveals Dates, Key Art

Rurouni Kenshin Kyoto Arc Musical Reveals Dates, Key ArtA musical adaptation of Rurouni Kenshin’s Kyoto Arc is set to hit the stage in Tokyo.

The musical will run from May 17 to June 24 at the IHI Stage Around Tokyo. It was originally set to run back in November 2020, but a wave of COVID infections forced a delay.

Along with the news came a fresh piece of key art showing off the actors in costume. The cast is led by Teppei Koike as Kenshin.

Meanwhile, Nobuhiro Watsuki‘s original Rurouni Kenshin manga is getting a fresh anime adaptation from Liden Films.

Here’s how Viz Books describes the original manga:

Action, romance, and historical intrigue help make Nobuhiro Watsuki’s Rurouni Kenshin, the tale of a wandering swordsman set against the backdrop of the Meiji Restoration, one of the most popular manga titles of all time. Himura Kenshin, once an assassin of ferocious power, now fights to protect the honor of those in need.

One hundred and forty years ago in Kyoto, with the coming of the American “Black Ships,” there arose a warrior who, felling men with his bloodstained blade, gained the name Hitokiri, or Manslayer! His killer blade helped close the turbulent Bakumatsu era and slashed open the progressive Meiji period. Then he vanished and, with the flow of years, became legend. This is his tale of redemption.
